Meet Nick - your coach

With years of experience in ultra-distance cycling, I founded Boundary to help cyclists of all abilities achieve their best on long days out on the bike and to prepare riders for the realities that go far beyond fitness alone.

Having been coached myself for many years, I know that training consistency and hard work get rewarded. But I’ve also learned the hard lessons that only long, multi-day rides teach: riding through the night when your world narrows to the beam of a head torch, standing in quiet roadside garages searching for real food, managing pacing mistakes that can take hours or days to undo, and discovering what sleep debt does to decision-making when the miles start to stack up and the lights fade.

In my coaching, I draw on this experience alongside data-driven research to guide riders through the full spectrum of ultra-distance challenges: fitness, nutrition, hydration, pacing, and logistics, so they can ride further, smarter, and stronger.

As a certified cycling coach, I use scientific techniques to deliver measurable results balanced with real-world endurance experience. Every plan is personalised and adaptable, preparing you not just for performance peaks but for the resilience and self-sufficiency ultra riding demands.

Yes you can. For ongoing monthly plans you can cancel when you wish. For fixed plans, there is a one-off pre-payment required before the intial consultation which is non-refundable.

I hadn't embarked on anything like this before. Chase the Sun South was 330km and about 14 hours in the saddle. Far longer than I'd ever cycled before. Nick helped me with every aspect of this ride. A structured training plan to make sure I completed, advice on hydration and nutrition and guidance on how to cope mentally with that long a ride. It wasn't easy, but Nick gave me the fitness and confidence boost to make sure I arrived in Weston-super-Mare tired but smiling.
I would highly recommend Nick as a coach! I began training with Nick in early summer 2024, when he set me a training programme that over the following 6 months massively improved my performance, confidence and enjoyment on the bike.
The training sessions he designed for me were structured really well and they balanced the time I had available to train, alongside other life commitments. The sessions helped me achieve considerable improvements to my FTP and VO2Max, that boosted my enjoyment. He also included my local club rides in the programme, which was an important thing for me as I still wanted to enjoy the social aspect of cycling.
Nick was a pleasure to work with: very communicative, understanding of the time pressures I faced and his wisdom and experience were so reassuring, particularly when we did some of the more challenging phases of training.
